Next Cash Mob Saturday, May 4, at 11:00 am

Please join us this Saturday, May 4, at 11:00 am at Washington Center for our next Cash Mob.  The surprise location will be revealed and ‘mobbed’, ‘Stand Up for New Castle’ shirts will be on sale, and a representative from the Pittsburgh Symphony will be selling tickets to May 23rd’s music of John Williams concert.

If you haven’t been able to make any Cash Mobs yet, we’ve been averaging around 100 people and have successfully ‘mobbed’ a small handful of businesses downtown including: Butz Flowers, the NC Library’s Book Cellar and the North Street Shops… Cake Eaters Bakery, Phil Sunseri’s Barber Shop, New Castle Martial Arts, Status party and events room, Let’s Do It Again resale shop, Lorelei’s Dancewear and Nails by Van.

Cash Mob Keeps Butz Hopping (NC News)

“It was, well, a mob scene.

Nearly 100 people crammed into Butz Flowers on Saturday morning, creating foot traffic that the East Washington Street business — or any downtown merchant, for that matter — likely hasn’t seen in decades.

The shoppers were responding to a call from New Visions for Lawrence County to form a “cash mob.” Participants — some wearing sweatshirts, others carrying signs saying “Stand Up for New Castle” — met at Washington Center, then walked together to Butz, where they were asked to spend $20 each.

“I stopped counting at 90, and there were still more people left,” noted Jo Ann McBride, director of Lawrence County’s Tourism Promotion Agency.”

Saturday’s Cash Mob was a great success.  Read the full story here on the New Castle News website.
